Since 1996, thousands of Pokémon cards have appeared on the market. Now 22 years later, there are still many avid collectors all over the world. There are a number of cards that every collector would like to have. These cards are so sought after because only a few were made!

1.Trophy Pikachu No.1

Not a Charizard, but a Trainer card from 1996 is the rarest and most expensive card from Pokémon. This card is so rare that only 4 were made! This card shows a Pikachu holding a trophy. These cards were won by the 4 winners of the first official Japanese Pokémon Card Game Official Tournament. This card is so rare that it cannot be found anywhere. The value? Unfortunately this is not known. This card has never been purchased by a collector before. Definitely very expensive!

2. Pikachu Illustrator

After the Trophy Pikachu, the rarest Pokémon card is the Pikachu Illustrator. This holo card depicts a Pikachu with a pen and brush. This card was awarded to the winners of the CoroCoro Comic Illustration Contest in January 1998. A total of 39 of these cards were produced, but only 20 are currently in existence. 10 of them are in perfect condition! In November 2016, one of these cards sold for a whopping $54,970! This is almost €45,000! At a previous auction in 2000, one of these cards fetched $23,000, which is almost €19,000. You could buy a brand new car with that money.

3. Holo Shadowless 1st Edition Charizard

More famous cards among Pokémon fanatics is the Base Set collection. This is the first set of Pokémon to reach the general public. Number 4 of 102 from this collection is the well-known Charizard. In the first production of this set, there were printing errors on the cards. The shadows at the bottom right of the character were not printed, so these cards are called "Shadowless". However, this error was quickly corrected, so only a few Shadowless cards were produced. The rarest of these cards is a First Edition Charizard. First Edition means the first series production of the collection. The value of this card on the market can reach $12,000! That converts to almost €10,000!

4. Tropical Mega Battle 2001

The Tropical Mega Battle was released in Hawaii, and only 12 cards were made. This makes these cards very difficult to find. This card can fetch as much as $10,000, which is equivalent to €8,138!

5. Pre-Release Raichu

Finally, the Pre-Release Raichu card. Just like the Tropical Mega Battle, this card can also raise as much as $10,000! It has never been officially confirmed by the Pokémon card manufacturer, but it is said that only 10 were made. These cards were given to employees, friends and family.
