After the blog about the most expensive Pokémon cards ever, this time there is a blog about the most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh cards ever made! This Japanese trading card game was launched in 1996 by Kazuki Takahashi. Now 22 years later, Yu-Gi-Oh cards are still being produced. Below is an overview of the most expensive cards ever made!
1. Tournament Black Luster Soldier
The most expensive card ever released for Yu-Gi-Oh is the Tournament Black Luster Soldier. This card was won by the winner of the first official Yu-Gi-Oh tournament. The asking price of this card is no less than 1 billion yen, which is approximately €12,000,000 (12 million euros). This card is also produced on stainless steel, instead of the usual paper. There is only 1 of these cards in the world. It is said that this card was once sold for €2,000,000 (2 million euros), but this has never been officially confirmed.

2. Tyler The Great Warrior
After the Tournament Black Luster Soldier, the second most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh card ever produced is the "Tyler The Great Warrior" card. In 2002, there was a boy named Tyler Gressle who had a rare form of liver cancer. The 14-year-old boy had to fight for his life. The Make-A-Wish foundation found out that he was a big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh. He was allowed to design his own card together with the producer of Yu-Gi-Oh. This became the "Tyler The Great Warrior" card, a total of 3 were made. The value of this card is unknown as it has not been offered on the market before. The boy Tyler Gressle beat cancer and is healthy today.

The print on the card was only produced once especially for this tournament. This card is now in the hands of a Japanese Trading Card Game store, and the asking price of this card is a whopping $400,000, or approximately €350,000.

In 2007, this card was in the news because it was said to have sold on eBay for as much as $1,200,000 (1.2 million dollars). Which made it the most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh card ever. However, these were rumors and the story was incorrect. This card was won by the winners of the Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship Series in 2006. The value of this card is estimated at approximately $8,000, or €6,500.
