The most sought-after Pokémon card has been sold at an auction in New York for a record amount of $195,000 (approximately €175,000). The Pokémon Illustrator card is so sought after because only 6 were produced. This card was distributed to the winners of the CoroCoro Comic Illustration Contest in 1998.
The card was designed by graphic artist Atsuko Nishida. This is the only Pokémon card that contains the word "Illustrator" in the title. In addition, a pen can also be seen at the bottom right and Pikachu is holding a pen.
The last time the same card sold it went for $54,970 on eBay (about €49,000).
